Larry was born October 21, 1951, in Flint, the son of Howard and Maxine (Lare) Johnson. He was a graduate of New Lothrop High School where he excelled in the community, academics, and athletics, especially in Football where he was named to the All-State team in 1968. Larry was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in the 2nd Infantry Division during his deployment in South Korea. Larry received an Associate Degree from Ferris State University and later retired from General Motors as a Skilled Trades Die Maker. Larry was also a licensed home inspector for many years and had his builder's license. He was a true jack of all trades and always willing to share his know-how or lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the neighborhood fix-it man when it came to carpentry, home maintenance, automotive, or small engine repair. Larry loved spending time outdoors whether it was taking his grandchildren on golf cart rides, fishing in his pond, or working around his yard. He also enjoyed watching Michigan Football, NASCAR, camping, traveling, hunting, golfing, boating, and snowmobiling.

Larry had a huge heart and always put others first, especially his family and the love of his life, Lori, whom he married on April 30, 2011. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and close friend to many. Surviving are: wife, Lori Johnson; children, Keith (Lindsi) Johnson, Brent (Sarah) Johnson, Nicole (Justin) Kopschitz, and Alissa (Brian) Coulter; grandchildren, Grady, Griffin, Isla, Jameson, Geanna, Leo, Lyla, and baby Noah who is on the way; his mother, Maxine Johnson; three brothers, David (Linda) Johnson, John (Mary) Johnson, and Michael (Betsy) Johnson; sister, Jackie (Rich) Knieper; many nieces and nephews.
