JOHNSON, Leroy George - Age 81, of Fenton, died Thursday, February 20, 2020. Celebration of Lee’s life will be Monday, March 2, 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton. Father David Harvey celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Saturday, February 29 from 2-5 PM and Sunday, March 1 from 3:30-7:30 PM where a rosary will be prayed at 6 PM and at church Monday March 2 from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Leroy was born August 22, 1938 in Detroit, the son of George and Helen (O'Connor) Johnson. He married Mary Kathleen "Kay" Hamacher November 21, 1959 in Detroit, and they were happily married for over 60 years. He was a 1956 graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School and then received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from John Carroll University, Cleveland OH. Leroy started employment with Rutten Welling CPA in Detroit, where he earned his CPA license. He established Leroy G. Johnson CPA in Fenton, in 1974 and built a thriving business with clients all over the United States. In the summer 1969, Lee and Kay moved their young family to Runyan Lake in Fenton. They settled into their new home and enjoyed a wonderful life with family and friends, Lee loved spending time on the lake making memories. He loved fast toys - especially his beloved Corvettes - and ice cream, which he enjoyed any day and especially at the countless parties for graduations, weddings and birthdays celebrated at the Lake. Time with his grandchildren brought him great joy and lots of laughs. Lee’s wise counsel, kind spirit and love of church, family and friends will never be forgotten as those who loved him will continue to carry his spirit with them. Lee found great joy in supporting the St. John Applefest and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 7418. Surviving are: his wife Kay; children, Carolyn Brack of Fenton, Maribeth Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Mark (Deborah) Johnson of San Francisco, CA, Patrick (Heidi) Johnson of Littleton, CO, and Thomas Johnson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 4 grandchildren, Michelle Brack, Joshua Brack, Rachel Johnson, and Ari Johnson; sisters Arlene (Jim) Price, Yvonne (Carroll) Strange, Mary Johnson, brothers Ron (Diane) Johnson, Ray (Sandy) Johnson. Brother in Law Joe (Patty) Hamacher, sisters in law Sheila Hess and Nancy Hamacher; and several nieces and nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers in law Marty Hess, and Ed Hamacher. May he rest in peace. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
