GILMER, Louise May (Miller) -- of Flint, Michigan, age 84, died peacefully at home on December 25, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held 3 PM Sunday May 1, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, with visitation from 2 PM until the time of the service. Louise’s family would like to express gratitude to the Kindred Hospice staff, and especially Reyna DeBolt and Jennie Harmon, for their compassionate care and support.
Louise was born June 23, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Earl E. Miller and Marie Adeline (Troupe) Miller. Louise married Phillip Arnold Gilmer in 1953 and worked tirelessly as a mother and homemaker, creating a home for their six children that remained the central gathering place for her far-flung family. She was employed as a certified tax preparer at H+R Block for many years. Louise was a dedicated election worker, inspiring her children to take democracy seriously and vote in every election, big or small. She was an active member of the Burton Senior Center and volunteered with Project Linus among other organizations.
Louise had many hobbies and interests including gardening, sewing, quilting, reading, walking, nature, camping, road trips, word games, dancing, yoga, singing and spending time with family. She loved to laugh! She had a great talent for preparing delicious meals for large groups of people. Louise had a natural affinity for babies, children, and animals and especially loved dogs and birdwatching. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Phil, and they shared an inspiring companionship and affection over 65 years of marriage.
Louise will be deeply missed by her son Philip (Winnie) Gilmer, son Boak (Debbie) Gilmer, daughter Toni Perrine (Jerry DeVries), daughter Gale Goldman (Bill Belcher), daughter Kelly (Vern) Freer and son Paul (Cindy) Gilmer, grandchildren Philip Taylor, Jonathan Goldman, Andrew Perrine, Alida Perrine, BJ Gilmer, Ryan Goldman, Tyler Losoya and Paul Gilmer, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband Phil, sister Dolores, brother Aaron, and beloved pets.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation. Arrangements are being handled by Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc.  Tributes and memories may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
