Marian Mulcahy

MULCAHY, Marian Louise - Age 101, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, July 5, 2020. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM, Friday July 10, 2020 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint. Fr. Tom Firestone celebrant. Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5 PM to 8 PM, Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, and again on Friday from 10 AM until the time of Mass at Church.In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Johns Vianney Catholic Church or the Macular Degeneration Research, Att: Memorial Department, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., Clarksburg, MD 20871.

Marian was born on February 18, 1919, and raised in Durand. She was the daughter of Clifford "Tim" and Maida (Mapes) Riley. She graduated from Durand High School in 1937 and worked at the Durand Telephone Company when she married Wayne Mulcahy, of Flushing on May 31, 1941.They moved to Flint and resided there for 48 years before moving to Swartz Creek. Wayne and Marian were married for 55 years before he preceded her in death in 1996. Marian was an accomplished piano and keyboard player. Over the years her beautiful handwork included crocheting, sewing, knitting, and needlepoint and silk embroidery. She cared for her family and home with great pride. She and Wayne joined St. John Vianney Catholic Church in 1950 and she continues to be a member. She is a former member of the Keyboard and Organ Club of Flint and the Flint Travel Club.

Those who will miss her are daughters, Janet and Richard Parkhurst and Arlene and Jim Arledge; grandchildren, Dwayne and Pam Parkhurst, Amy and Ken Hobson, Monica and Steve Lanphear and Melissa and Thomas Anderson; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Wyatt Parkhurst, Rachel and Morgan Lanphear and Shannon Hobson; step-grandchildren, Tom and Christa, Andy, Brion and Theresa, Cooley and Tiffany, and Roger Rockol; 8 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
