Myatt, Raymond D. - Age 79, of Linden, died January 22, 2023. Services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, February 11, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. (The service may be viewed by Livestream at Mr. Myatt's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com)  Visitation will be held 2-4p.m.

Raymond was born June 25, 1943 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Raymond H. Myatt and Virginia Mae (Penny) Myatt. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School. He served in the Army National Guard and the Army Reserves.

In 1975 Ray began taking classes at the University of Michigan-Flint eventually earning a BA in Education and an MA in American Culture. During that time he enjoyed his kids’ academic and extracurricular activities, spending time with them in northern Michigan in summers, playing tennis at Potter school, and many visits to the UofM pool and recreation building.

Ray and Jean Marie (Crossett) were married on September 14, 1991. He and Jean wrote for "People and Pride”, a news magazine for the Chevy V8 plant, where they both worked. After 31 years of service he retired from General Motors and returned to his teaching roots to work as a substitute teacher for ten years. Ray loved spending time golfing, oil painting, writing short stories, and articles for East Village Magazine in Flint. He spent many Labor Day weekends volunteering for the Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon and volunteered as a chaplain for the Genesee County Jail. He and Jean enjoyed annual golf weekends to Mackinac Island, camping/canoeing trips down the Big Manistee River, and springtime in Myrtle Beach.

Ray will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Surviving are: his wife of 31 years Jean; children, David Myatt, Michael Myatt, Catherine (Brian) Flowerday, Caron Wells; Adam (Sylvia) Earls, Anita Fanning, Alan (Heather) Earls; grandchildren, Benjamin Flowerday, Allison Flowerday, Emma Flowerday, Keagan Wells, Emily Myatt, Ashley Myatt, Allissa Cochran, Christopher Beller, Daniel Earls and Samantha Earls, Beck Amo, Brock Amo; great-grandchildren, Connor Beller, Christopher Beller, and Avery Jackson; former wife Cheryl (Hayes) Myatt; siblings, Ron Myatt, and Kathryn (Steve) Barbeau; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
