Richard Schaefer

SCHAEFER, Richard K.- Age 69, of Fenton, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022. Private services were held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Road in Fenton, and Oakwood Cemetery in Fenton, where he was laid to rest. A Celebration of Richard's Life will take place from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Fenton Community Center, 150 S. Leroy St., Fenton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Richard was born November 16, 1952, in Flint, the son of Dr. Richard K. Schaefer, M.D., and Phyllis E. (Kelley) Schaefer. Richard married Maggie Plude in Hartland on October 1, 1977. He was a lifelong resident of Fenton and the owner of The Fenton Groundskeeper. Richard lived on Case's Island for many years. He enjoyed motorcycles, boating, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by: his wife, Maggie; daughter Erica (Shawn Irwin) Schaefer; son, Richard (Laura) Schaefer; grandchildren, Blake and Leah Irwin, Layla, Paige, and Rich Schaefer, Curtis and Ethan Wangler; great-granddaughter, Paisley; brother, Michael Schaefer; and many cousins.
