Sally Sklar

SKLAR, Sally Jean (nee Kempner) - age 77 wife of the late William Porter formerly of Linden MI, died October 29, 2022, in Nashville, TN. Sally was born June 30, 1945, in LaPorte, IN, daughter of the late Irving and Mary (Tanenbaum) Kempner. She was a graduate of Mumford High School and Wayne State University majoring in Anthropology and Psychology. She retired from the State of Michigan as a Regional Director for the Secretary of State after many years of service. She was an avid horsewoman both in riding and carriage driving competitions. She was also a dedicated dog breeder. Over many years as a dog breeder, she raised prizewinning Golden Retrievers, King Charles Spaniels and Toy Fox Terriers. Her love of dogs extended to her activities as a well-respected dog show judge. Sally is survived by her son, Ian (Ellen) Sklar of Davie, FL. Granddaughter Elianna Sklar. Sisters Andrea Kempner Blake and Janice (Alexander) Morgan, brother Steven Kempner, brothers-in-law, James Porter and Thomas Porter M.D. and 13 nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 12 PM Friday, November 4, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W Silver Lake Rd, Fenton, MI 48430 with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Linden.
