Susie Gossett

March 4, 1958 — January 24, 2022

Fenton

Gossett, Susie Dorothy (nee Gutierrez), 63, of Fenton passed away January 24, 2022. Susie was born March 4, 1958 in Flint, the daughter of Emilio and Dolores (Diaz) Gutierrez. She married the love of her life, John Gossett, on December 21, 1991. Susie loved the Lord, caring for her family, cooking, crocheting, antiquing, running, a family get together, and always loved a good deal. After graduating from Northern High School in Flint, she went to work on the line at GM where she forged her impeccable work ethic and uncanny “Ms. Fix it” attitude.  After leaving GM in the 80’s she worked nights and attended college during the day learning about electronics and circuit boards. In the 90’s, Susie left the workforce all together to pursue her deepest passion and calling, being a stay at home mom to 4 children. Their lives were her life. She faithfully attended bible studies, crochet club, and never missed a Cross Country or Track & Field meet supporting Kearsley and Linden High Schools. She was known for her smile, listening ear, laughing before the punchline, her homemade Salsa, and was a master at making a house a home. “Mama G,” as she was affectionately known, wants you to know, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Surviving are husband, John; four children, Justin (Melody) Gutierrez of North Carolina, John Gossett II, Jeremiah Gossett, and Maya Gossett, granddaughter, Zoey Gutierrez; siblings, Jesse (Priscilla) Gutierrez of TN, Sylvia Gutierrez of Goodrich, Sally (Bill) Davidson of FL, Shirley (Kim) Barnes of FL, Larry (Christina) Gutierrez of Fenton, Gloria (Steve) Maki of Flint, and Amelia Young of Belleville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Dolores, and siblings, James Guiterrez, Margo Carreras, Raoul Diaz, Tina Otero, and Mickey Gutierrez. Memorial Service will be held at the Rock Church, Saturday January 29th at 11 AM 11400 Linden Rd., Fenton, MI 48430. The family will receive friends from 10 AM - 11 AM Saturday at the church. Visitation will be held 3-7 PM Friday, January 28th at  Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St. Linden, MI 48451. A private burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park.
