Vergil Johnson

JOHNSON, Vergil Mae - Age 89, of Swartz Creek, passed away May 26, 2023 in her home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2111 Flushing Rd., Flint. Pastor Greg Timmons will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 10AM until the time of service Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Flint Mission Project, (checks payable to Calvary United Methodist Church).  Vergil was born December 9, 1933 in Cavalier, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Marion and Ernest Brooks. She graduated from Bendle High School. On February 16, 1952 Vergil married Paul Johnson, they recently celebrated 71 years together.   Vergil spent her life dedicated to the Lord and her family. She loved baking, quilting and being with her children and grandchildren.  She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church for over 40 years. Vergil is survived by her husband, Paul Johnson; children, Deborah (Dick) Dixon, Diane (Dale) Thompson, Kathy (Ron) Fetter, Kenneth (Jean) Johnson, Jeffery (Dawn) Johnson, Michael (Keely) Johnson; 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Norma Simpson, Beverly (Leon) Poinsett, Ruth (Bill) Covington, Sandra (Robert) Linn.   She was preceded in death by her brother Bob and his wife Pat Bryan, brother- in- law, Dr William Simpson, and son-in-law, Marvin Holdorf.   Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
