William Austin

AUSTIN, William Henry, age 80, of Alma, formerly of Fenton, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the Masonic Pathways in Alma. In accordance with William wishes cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. William was born on March 4, 1939, in West Branch to Mr. & Mrs. Nelson and Charlotte (Matthews) Austin. He graduated from West Branch High School. William proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He worked for the Flint Police Department for 23 years before his retirement. William and Joyce Chandler were united in marriage in 1961. He is survived by: wife, Joyce; three children, William Austin, Diana (Brad) Fritcher, Richard Austin, Mark Patterson; five grandchildren, Brad, Arielle (Chris), Nickolas, Caitlin (Kevin); four great-grandchildren, Owen, Charlotte, Henry, Beatrice and Violet.
