Obituary for Danny A. Matzke

MATZKE, Danny A. --"Diver Dan" --Age 68, of Bancroft, formerly of Birch Run, died March 17, 2017. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday March 24, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Pastor Eric Stewart officiating. Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. A luncheon will be held at the American Legion 408 S. Saginaw St., Holly following the cemetery. Visitation will take place 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Operation Care Package, Michigan.

Danny was born October 4, 1948, in Saginaw, the son of Clyde and Marguerite (Raquepaw) Matzke. He proudly served in the U.S. Army 1st. Air Cavalry Division, 8th. Engineer Battalion, Bravo Company during the Vietnam War. Danny enjoyed fishing, hunting, drag racing, music, and especially spending time with his grandsons.

Danny is survived by his mother, Marguerite Matzke; children, Kristen (Clay) Brophy, Carrie Anne (Scott) Richardson, and Carrie Lynn (Brian) Taylor; grandsons, Cody, Riley, Jaret, Brandon, and Ian; nephew, Jimmy (Katie) Geyer; great nieces; Morgan and Logan; great nephew; Jefferson; brothers, Jack and Chris Matzke.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Matzke; brothers, Clyde Matzke Jr., Gale Thomas Matzke, and Brian Matzke; sister in law, Patricia Matzke. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of
